A Quick Look at MP3 Players

Vic January 8th, 2007

Many people think of MP3 players as a device soley for the purpose of playing music. This of course is not at all true. Today the MP3 player is widely used for listening to audio books.

One factor that’s making them so popular for this is there portability. Now instead of being stuck at your computer or stereo to listen to your latest audio book you can take it with you wherever you go.

However when used to listen to audio books you’re going to find that there are a few features you’ll want to look for in an MP3 player that will really make a big difference in your listening enjoyment.

Below are some of the factors to consider that will help you get the right MP3 for listening to your audio books:

1. The number one factor to consider is the way the player handles interruption. When you’re listening is interrupted you’re going to want to be able to continue from the same spot in the book were you left off. Make sure the player you choose gives you that option.

2. Make sure the player has a large memory. Audio Books are large files and require a lot of space on the player so the larger the memory the better.

3. Make sure the player has good volume. You may find yourself wanting to listen to your audio book in a noisy area and you’ll want the volume to be able to support that option.

4. Size may be another factor that you should consider, however don’t sacrifice quality for a smaller size. Look for players that are made by the larger brand name companies. A quality player will make listening much more enjoyable and will last much longer.

5. This one may be as important as #1 be sure the player is capable of playing encrypted files. Many audio books are encrypted by the publishers to protect their copyrights, therefore your MP3 player will need to be capable of playing files that are using Digital Rights Management (DRM). This is often referred to as WMA DRM.

I hope you’ve found this information useful and that it will make looking for the right player for you a little
