More About Text to Speech Software

Vic March 31st, 2008

The other day I posted about a Free Christian Audio Book website textaloudlogo.gifthat offered synthesized audio books using TextAloud software. Today I got to thinking that many of you may not be aware of the many other uses of that software so today I'm going to talk a little more about how it can really help save you time.

TextAloud 2.0 is the most popular text to speech software available today and version 3 which is due out very soon promises many new features.

TextAloud can save you time in many ways, it can read your email for you, read web pages, reports, text from almost any text document and  much more. TextAloud can also save your reading tasks to MP3 or Windows Media files ready for playback on your iPod, PocketPC, or even on your TV with Tivo's Home Media Option.

Just think of how much more productive and/or entertained you'll be wherever you go with this text reader. If you haven't listened to computer generated speech recently, I think you'll be amazed at how human-like the latest voices really are.

But don't take my word for it you can download a free trial version of TextAloud from their website and give it a try for yourself. Also available on their website is sample recordings of many of the premium voices.

Business people, students, educators, writers, lawyers, homemakers and busy people from all walks of life find TextAloud to be an essential tool they use every day. It's been featured in The New York Times, PC Magazine, Writer's Digest, on CNN and more.

So head on over to their website and check it out and while you're there you can don't forget to check the other time saving software titles they offer such as NewsAloud, WeatherAloud and StocksAloud you can also read what others have to say about this software. Some of the user testimonials give some really innovative ways to use this software.

“GoBible” A Really Cool New Gadget

Vic February 29th, 2008

For those of you who love gadgets and the Bible this is a must have.250x250.GIF

This feature packed device allows you to drill all the way to the exact verse you're looking for and starts the play at that verse. To my knowledge this is the only device that allows this level search capability.

The GoBible does not require a computer everything you need comes loaded right onto the device, that's over 70 hours of audio content at your fingertips.

Other features that come standard with the Go bible are:

  • A story index
  • Bible in a year plan
  • A topic index

Even with all this audio content and features the GoBible is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or in a shirt pocket and comes preloaded with either the New International Version, King James or New King James version of the Bible.

To find out more about the GoBible simply click on this link.

More Free Audio Book Resources at LibriVox

Vic February 19th, 2008

librivox_logo.gifI first told you about LibriVox.org on January 14th, 2007 then on November 5th, 2007 I reported to you about them making their 1000th audio book from the public domain available in their catalog of audio books from the public domain. If you have not already read those posts or would like to review them I've linked the dates above to them.

Since those two posts I've visited this site a number of times and each time I've come away with something of value.

Today I'd like to tell you about two of those valuable finds.

First off is the forums, as of this writing there are 8528 registered users and they have posted 193868 articles. These forums are jam packed with great content related to audio books from a number of different perspectives. You can check the forums out for yourself at this link.

Second is the LibriVoxWiki, which offers guides for both readers and listeners and much more.

Both of these resources are well worth your time and I'm sure you'll find them useful.
