Audio Book Version of Ultra-Metabolism

UltraMetabolismFinally an easy to follow 8 week plan to help you lose weight and keep it off.

Based on 10 years of study and research at “Canyon Ranch Health Resort” Dr. Mark Hyman, M.D.  formulated the Ultra-Metabolism Diet’s seven keys to weight loss which are controlling appetite and metabolism, reducing stress, managing inflammation, preventing cellular “rust,” turbo charging your metabolism, ensuring optimal thyroid function and detoxifying your liver.

This book uses a series of short quizes to help readers find their personal trouble areas and then implement a diet that works for them. Dieters are required to eat every three hours but not within three hours of bedtime. The program has three main stages: one week of preparation, Phase I and Phase II.

In the initial preparation phase, bad foods are banished all together. These foods include caffeine, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, junk food and alcohol.

In Phase I a three week detoxification dieters introduce “healing” foods and eliminate common food allergens like dairy products, eggs and gluten.

Phase II lasts for life. This is where you reprogram your body and genes to lose weight and keep it off. The lifetime phase allows you to reintroduce previously banished foods in a way that allows you to monitor their effects on your health.

Five Star A brilliant SF series
Quite simply, Eathsearch is the greatest audio SF series ever made and overall one of the greatest SF series in total. Both the scripts and acting are of an unbelievably high standard, the pace and excitement (pure menace in some areas) is spine chilling. I would recommend this to all SF and non SF listeners.

I was a bit reluctent at first to buy Earthsearch as usually I don’t listen to older recordings of radio shows because of the sound quality. However Earthsearch had me open-mouthed as it was such an enthrawling story from the first episode to the last! I just couldn’t get it on to cd fast enough and even sat up late listening to it. Each episode has surprises in store and will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. It is full of mystery intreeg and deception at every turn. Expect the unexpected. The casting was stunning and the performance spectacular from start to finish. There’s a lot of scares in it, won’t give too much away but the end of each episode always had me jumping out of my skin because of the music. It’s a must have trust me, it’s a classic adventure, you won’t regrette buying it. All you fans of Science fiction get it now!! It more than deserves it’s 5 star rating

Five Star Earthsearch
I resisted buying this as $30.00 for a download is kind of high, but I am very glad that I did! The sound quility is perfect and it is a great listen! If you like Sci-Fi Radio I would highly recomend this!

Audio Book Review of Batman: Knightfall

“… Dirk Maggs, who wrote and produced, threw everything into the pot and stirred vigorously. The result was richly textured, highly flavoursome, original and wonderfully energetic …”   Daily Telegraph

Gotham City is reeling from the shocking news that Batman is confined to a wheelchair. Who will now protect the innocent from the dangerous inmates of Arkham Asylum, whom Bane has released? A new hero – Asrael – takes up the mantle of the Bat. But Azrael is a more brutal Batman than Bruce Wayne, and far more eager to punish the guilty than to protect the innocent. Will he destroy Gotham City in order to save it?

This fantastic full-cast adventure stars Bob Sessions, Michael Gough, Peter Marinker and Kerry Shale, and it comes from the renowned producer Dirk Maggs, of Superman and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy radio fame.

This stunning audio production was first aired on BBC Radio 1, and it’s cliffhanging, all-action adventure can now be heard uninterrupted and remastered – complete with dazzling sound effects and specially composed orchestral music. This edition also includes a bonus out-takes reel, never heard before.

Tom had this to say about Batman: Knightfall

5 stars Dirk Maggs is a genius!
Why there aren’t more superhero-based pieces on audio is beyond me. Thank God for Dirk Maggs! “Batman: Knightfall” never lets up, and is a perfect adaptation of the sprawling Batman saga of years ago. All we need now is for the BBC to re-release all of Maggs’ sci-fi and comic book masterpieces.

Audio Book Review of Every Mother is a Daughter

Biography & Memoir

EVERY MOTHER IS A DAUGHTER
Perri Klass, Sheila Solomon Klass
Read by Anna Fields, Carrington MacDuffie

Anna Fields and Carrington MacDuffie capture the rapport, love, frustrations, and gentle teasing between mother and daughter as they read this memoir by Perri Klass and her mother, Sheila Solomon Klass. The two women share their very different perspectives on each other, housework, child-rearing, and money, even as they travel the world and reflect on life with Sheila’s late husband, who was an anthropologist. Both Klass women are accomplished writers who bring an engaging and conversational style to this humorous and heartwarming memoir. Fields and MacDuffie are the perfect combination to highlight this style. The outstanding performance by the two women brings this well-written account of a unique family vividly to life. H.L.S. Audio Book Review of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Classics

THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN
Mark Twain
Read by Tom Parker

One of the better unabridged recordings of Mark Twain’s masterpiece is on par with others vis-à-vis interpretation and excels in sheer beauty. In this impeccably quiet release, Tom Parker (aka Grover Gardner) contributes a resonant announcer’s baritone, superb technique, musical expressiveness, and a fond, intelligent understanding. He is less a narrator here than a storyteller, one of the best this reviewer has heard, sounding as if he were speaking extemporaneously. Of the half-dozen recorded renditions I’ve auditioned, this is the one that best expresses the brilliance of Twain’s rendering of dialect and a rural boy’s sensibility. A judicious use of sound processing enhances his performance. Y.R. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 02/ JAN 03]
